Ponies!

Most weekends I go to my great aunt's place to ride her ponies with my friend Olive. She has 8 shetland's called, Merlin, Blue, Merlina, Ella, Missy, Basil, Foxeuy and Morits. The first 5 all live with her but Foxey and Basil boath live somwhere elce. Moritz is a stallion so she is leasing him out to breed at another place. She also has a kimanua chestnut horse called Phenix who is quite grumpy!

Usually I ride Merlin who is super friendly and adorable! I love him so much and not being able to see him for ages is very hard. When Olive come's she rides Blue who is also very cute!

Each year at the Christchurch A&P show they all do the Shetland Steeplechase around the showjumping arena. Because Merlin is the sort of middle-man his rider has a go-pro on their helmet and the video gets posted on Facebook afterwards. I love watching the video and seeing his little head as he gallops.  If you want to see the last few years videos most of them are on you-tube under, 'Shetland steeplechase Christchurch A&P show'.

  1. Hi Clara. Gosh I’m actually loving reading all these blogs I’m learning so much about you all well a lot of you. The Shetlands are so cute how many has she got? Unfortunately the A&P show has been cancelled this year which is a bit sad for Canterbury. You’re so lucky being able to go riding at your aunties and great that Olive can go as well. We had a horse for my daughter when she grew up she did show jumping and won a lot of ribbons including champion of champions. Have you ever thought about doing show jumping or been to watch it? I totally get how you’ve fallen in love with Merlin you get very attached to them quickly.
Not long now and you’ll be able to see Merlin and all the other beautiful horses and ponies.
